Todd great video and I understand everything you saying. For those people that did not understand,I will be looking to get a Mod cheap because, you did not hear a word that Todd said;take your time. Thanks Todd
How would you remove chrome plating from a brass mod like the vamo. Was thinking just use a wire wheel not sure that would work any tips would be appreciated thanks for the great tutorial
Wire wheel may be a bit to much as will take the plating off but also scratch the brass quite bad. As I said in the video, start off with the least abrasive method and gauge it from there.
Using something like a Dremmel with a polishing head would it help to use water like you would if you mopped the paintwork on a car to avoid burning the paint?
Argghhh, mopping a car, bloody pain in the arse process, hate it lol
Personally I don't bother Simon, as long as you keep it moving and don't dwell on one spot you'll be fine. if it's getting really warm, time to pause :)
Mopping is a messy job but the results can be stunning :)
I used to be a commercial paint sprayer painting HGV trailers. It was a long time ago, back in the day when Iceland took over Bejam (remember them?), we had loads of trailers to paint then, boring job though, white sides with rhino grey chassis :(
Also did trailers for Tesco, Royal Mail, Federal Express, Dairy Crest and random bits like car transporters, now they were a proper pain in the arse compared to mopping a car, especially canary yellow one's! LOL.
We did have a Paris Dakar support truck in for some work, now that was VERY cool :D
Because of this video, I went out and bought some metal polish and had a blast taking the ugly machining marks of my smok telescope to something more appealing. Today, I dropped by and picked up some wet/dry sandpaper and buffing attachments for a dremel and really enjoying myself.
International shipping might sting a bit, but go ahead and send them. Just know that I might hang on to them for a fair bit to make sure they still vape properly after being polished.
Todd for an rsst - would it be correct to start with 1000 grit then 1200 then 1500 grit and then using a buffing wheel on the dremel with some polish compound to get a mirror finish ? In your video the pulse mod was already polished but I'm wondering what's the easiest way to to polished from brushed

ReplyDeleteThe SS mod looked stunning after the 1200. I'd go even higher than that, and drop the polishing. I prefer it cloudy. :D

A brass Vamo is the only reason I can think of for having a Vamo. Hmmm....

Things have come a long way now mate, some of the compounds on the market make mopping a thing of the past :)
DeleteRemind me to send you some pics of the work I did.
Well done Todd, very helpful video.
ReplyDeleteAny chance on making 'how to brush finish you mods' Todd?

DeleteHi Tod,
ReplyDeleteDo you recommend this methods to be applied on titanium bliss v2
This was a very helpful tutorial!
Thanks,
Arik (a2d)
Honestly, I am not 100%
DeleteI don't think that you can get the same polished finish from Ti, may be wrong on this!

DeleteJust follow the advice mate, start with least abraisive if that doesn't work then come down a grade and then work back up :)
DeleteHi Todd!
ReplyDeleteANy advice on how to clean copper contacts? The internet says a quick way to do that is with vinegar and tablesalt! Would you agree with that?
Just use my cape cod cloth or brasso myself :)
ReplyDeleteHi Todd! I used AutoSol metal polish on my copper contacts and it made all the difference! Thank you so much! Can't wait for more of your tutorials!
